DWRT Voluntary Contribution Drive

Dear Teammate,

Every year, our team puts together a Voluntary Contribution Drive. This drive offers team members an opportunity to donate to the team outside of annual dues (which have remained a low $30/year).

COVID-19 has changed everything for everyone. Instead of group training in person, the team shifted to virtual workouts, including funding yoga with Leah and strength training with Emmi. The team also hosted a virtual race series that over 200 people participated in called the Tour de Summer, through which the team raised almost $8,500 through the generosity of both participants and a matching grant of $1,000 from the team. These funds benefitted a variety of causes, including For the Gworls Gender-Reaffirming Surgery Fund for Trans Persons of Color, the COVID-19 Relief Fund, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the Human Rights Campaign, the Friends of Hudson River Park (in memory of Jessy Scarpone), Color of Change, Feeding America, and Campaign Zero.

Looking forward to 2021, the team projects lower revenue. Despite this, we commit to keeping dues at $30 and paying stipends to all of our coaches as they will continue to produce training plans throughout the year. We will also plan to provide those training plans through the Run Smart app and to host in-person runs as long as the government agencies and the board deem that it is safe to do so.

If you feel you have received value from being a member of the team and are in a position to do so, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to helping us achieve our 2021 goals. The Board will recognize all donors at our annual meeting.

Four lucky contributors will win a pair of Bose audio sunglasses, valued at $249.95.
