Shahidah joined the whippets in 2015. She loves that there are always group runs and events. She believes that the team is motivating and FAST, and welcomes everyone…. even herself—who she considers a “turtle.”

I am a single mom of 2 daughters, originally from the Bronx and currently reside in fort lee NJ. I am a Tax Attorney, and former politician in Washington D. C., where I lived for 9 years prior to returning to the metro area. I have my own firm (Hamlett Law Group), where I help clients that have tax issues such as many years of unfiled tax returns, large balances that they cannot afford with IRS, wage garnishments and bank levies, as well as audit representation.
I have run a total of 7 marathons, starting in 2014, and set to run my 8th at the end of February. My original goal with running was to lose weight, but eventually got caught up with a race addiction. Over the last two years I have traveled internationally to race, including, but not limited to, Rome, Berlin, Aruba, and Jamaica. My current goal is to run the six world major marathons. So far I have completed NYC twice, Chicago, and Berlin. Chicago is my favorite of all completed marathons.
