What interested you in practicing chiropractic medicine?
I’ve been practicing chiropractic medicine for 15 years, and I enjoy it as much now as I did when I started. Providing care to my patients has been extremely rewarding for me. I specialize in treating sports-related injuries, and many of the patients are athletes, both amateur and professional. NYC has a large running community and there are a lot of great ways to stay active in the city. I enjoy helping my patients get back to leading healthy lifestyles, and doing what they love… running. Having patients set personal records is one of my biggest thrills.
What type of therapy do you find works best for athletes, and runners in particular? Are you a runner?
I work out and run and have had suffered through injuries, so I understand a lot of the frustrations my patients have when they come to me for treatment. I have seen a great deal of success with Active Release Technique (ART). Overused muscles are a big cause for injuries and pain – many can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. The treatment can feel a little uncomfortable, but the results definitely outweigh any negatives – faster recovery, reduced pain and decreased injuries.
Outside of your professional life, what are your interests and hobbies?
My passion is traveling – I absolutely love it and plan several trips throughout the year. I prefer warmer locations where I can relax on the beach, but I love exploring different countries. The escape from New York is a big recharge for me – then I’m refreshed and ready for work. One rule is that I don’t plan trips close to the NYC marathon- that’s when a lot of my patients need me the most. I see a lot of injuries occur in the months and weeks leading up to the race mainly due to overtraining and lack of rest. I do my best to get my runners feeling healthy and ready to take on NYC.
