Hi Teammates,
The Dashing Whippet Track meet is for you, Whippet teammates. Never run in a track meet before? 2015 is your year.
More than two hundred tough Whippets will participate in the Brooklyn Half. The Brooklyn Half is a long, tough race. So there is no reason we can’t get more than two hundred Whippets competing in the much shorter, much easier track meet. Here are three reasons why you should run in the Dashing Whippet track meet in 2015:
- You are guaranteed to run a personal best time. Most tracks don’t have hills. Tracks are fast and flat and rubbery-like. Our beloved East River track only has one tiny hill in the backstretch. I am so certain that you will run a personal best that I am willing to say that Whippet co-Founder Matthew Wong will pay you back your entry fee out of his own pocket if you don’t. Matthew Wong has not agreed to this, but I am still willing to say it.
- The track meet isn’t just for “fast” people, it is for all people. And anyway, you are fast. Don’t believe me? Read this article. Now stop saying you aren’t fast. Here is my favorite quote from the article: “Here’s a secret about running. The feeling you get after a new PR, the satisfaction from a tough workout well done, and the disappointment from a bad performance all feel the same no matter how fast you are. That’s the beauty of our sport. There is no difference between the runner who breaks 30 minutes for the 5k for the first time and the one that breaks 16 minutes. Both worked hard, sacrificed to achieve their goal, and experienced the same challenges.” The Whippet track meet is an easy, low-risk way for our team members to experience a track meet, but that only works if you sign up to experience the track meet.
- We all like speedy-looking running photos. We have some awesome photographers on our team and they will be at the track meet snapping action shots. “I love speedy action shots,” said Facebook pages everywhere.
The Dashing Whippet Track meet is one of the best events of the year, and it takes place in our own backyard. Sign up now!
