Dashing Whippets Membership Platform Migration

We’re moving from MeetUp to a new membership platform created by Whippets for Whippets. Join us on Yakka, a new mobile app that will host all Dashing Whippets team runs and events. We will also be upgrading our payments and dues management on Stripe.

Why are we migrating?

The new platform offers members a better event hosting and RSVP experience, while providing the team with greater control over managing memberships.

What is Yakka?

Yakka is a brand new mobile app created by fellow Whippets, Abhinav Mathur and Bora Tunca. Yakka helps manage our team’s events and training plans. On Yakka, you can:

  • RSVP for all team runs and events

  • See who is attending each run or event

  • View team training plans and track your progress

  • Group chat with the team

Once you're on Yakka, we will remove you from the Dashing Whippets MeetUp group within 3 days.

What is Stripe?

Stripe is a secure and encrypted payment platform that allows the Dashing Whippets to process credit card payments and manage memberships. Stripe is a trusted payment processor used by millions of businesses worldwide. Your credit card number is stored with Stripe, and Dashing Whippets does not have access to that information.

When are we migrating?

The platform migration period will begin on June 23, 2025 and conclude on August 30, 2025. Members will migrate in phases to ensure a smooth handover. On a rolling basis, members will receive unique links by email to claim their membership on the new platform. Please wait until you receive your migration email before registering. During the migration period, all team runs and events will be dual listed on both MeetUp and Yakka, ensuring everyone has the same access to all team activities during the transition regardless of when you receive your migration email. New team events scheduled to take place after August 30 will no longer be added to MeetUp.

Get a free 30 day membership extension when you migrate!

Between June 23 - July 30, 2025 we will email you a unique link to claim your membership and add your payment details on the new platform. Your existing DWRT membership expiration date from MeetUp will carry over, plus an additional free 30-day extension as a thank you for making the switch.
