Starting a new thread because the event comments are getting too long!
This is in response to Masako's question about what time to get out there... It all depends on what you need to get done (warm-up? meet up with others?) before you get into your corral. As Josh mentioned, baggage is divided into numbered UPS trucks that are lined up along 5th Ave. leading into the park entrance. They are pretty generously staffed so it really shouldn't take you too long to hand off your baggage to the attendants. Just make sure you are using the bag they give you and that you stick your label on it. NYRR says that you need to be in your corrals 30 minutes before start - 7am. I don't recall how strictly they enforce this, but I generally like to stick to the rules to avoid any unnecessary stress. Also for the slower corrals (I think anything above 9000 is brown), even though they have separate corrals for each 1000 interval (i.e. 9000, 10000, 11000, etc.), it's pretty lax back there so if you have #14893, you can make your way up to 9000 pretty easily. There are port-a-potties lined up along all the corrals. If you need them, you can factor that into the 30 minutes you spend waiting for the start. Don't worry about doing that before getting into your corral. For me, I will probably get to the park between 6:45-6:50am, drop off my bag, enter the park, and get in my corral by 7am (utilize the port-a-potties and get some last minute warm-up inside the corral). |

Check your team affiliation
Hey everyone, I just logged onto my NYC Half profile page and noticed that they added a new "Team Affiliation" under the "My Status" page, "Half-Marathon" tab. This wasn't there before. I clicked on "Edit" and my team was defaulted to "Unattached." I just changed it to "Dashing Whippets." Try to update yours now (before they start bib printing!) to avoid having to deal with team changing after the race! |

UPDATE: If you're running you should have received an email last night from NYRR.
It now says to be corralled at 7:15am (not 7:00am), so that gives you another 15 minutes of sleep? Plan accordingly! Don't forget to bring a printout of the email and photo ID with you when you go to the expo! |

For non-running Whippets --
Rich and I will form a Whippets cheering section on the West Side Highway near Chelsea Piers. The leaders will be passing by around 8:15. I'll be there by then, maybe by 8:30 at the latest, so I'll be able to see most Whippets. PLEASE JOIN US TO SUPPORT YOUR TEAMMATES! I imagine we'll be roughly even with 22nd St., on the west (river) side of the the West Side Highway. Team in Training is setting up to cheer there too, so we'll probably aim to set up just south of them. Call Rich for details on race morning, 781-367-8244. Thanks! Scott |

thanks to everyone that is coming out to support. It helps so much knowing there is a cheering section. It makes you run faster so you can see people you know quicker.
