Plyometrics - Build Your Running Speed and Power
Plyometrics are exercises that require your muscles to reach peak force in a very short amount of time. They will improve your speed, power and running economy. You should make sure you have bult a good base of strength with general lower body strength training and running specific strength training before attempting these high intensity plyometrics and plyometric exercises. I have a love-hate with Plyo. It's really good for me but it's hard! Anyway, I'd definitely love to know if anyone else out there has good Plyo workouts they recommend. I would love to incorporate these into some workouts. For people new to running, please bear in mind the text I have made bold. Don't risk injury by adding these on haphazardly with little strength-training base. |

Jessica has a great book of running plyo stuff (a book that I hung on to for a long time, sorry!) but yeah, it's good stuff; I can bring in some notes I have from there. lotta stuff like one-legged jumps/squats, etc.

I have the P90X (don't laugh! we got them from my b/f's co-worker) plyo DVD and can burn one for you if you'd like. I've only done it once and it seemed decent, but that's the only plyo I've ever done so I don't have a frame of reference.

I want that P90X DVD! I wanna be like TSP. Or should we just call it TSP90X?

That's awesome. I actually have a copy of these as well. I've yet to check it out but I should. Those people on the infomercial are ripped!
