is anyone doing the 10,000 meter relay???? How many legs can someone run? let me know if we're putting together teams :)
Hey, Rod -- I will organize our 2/24 relay team. I'll put you on the list. But if someone says they want to be on the the relay team, they MUST make it there, even if it's a blizzard, or they will forever be talked about with scorn by everyone else. Also, join us at our track training workouts on Thursdays!
As of 2/10, here's who is DEFINITELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT, SWEARING ON THEIR ANCESTORS' GRAVES that are running the relay on 2/24: Scott, Russell, Jim, Annette, Evelyn. (Did I miss anyone?) Spots are open for Mark, Rich, Luke, Hideki, Shay or anyone else who can confirm that NO MATTER WHAT, short of death or hospitalization, they'll be there on 2/24. (I'm also taking alternates.) You're welcome to join the team no matter how fast or slow, just follow through if you commit. Thx!
I will be there and do the relay! I'm not a super fast sprinter but like to think I'm pretty reliable..
You can count me in, Scott! I've been looking forward to this relay all year.
Is the relay later/at the end of the meet? I have class downtown til 630, but can make it up to the armory by 730.
take it easy,Shay, the relay will not begin until 9:30pm at the earliest estimate
I estimate the time is as follows:
3000m 7pm-8:30pm
1500m 8:30pm-9:30pm
10,000m relay* 9:30pm-10:30pm
also,I found the videos on the Armory track webiste pretty useful.
http://ny.milesplit.com/videos/tags/2010/indoor![]()
So next time,I will strategically distribute the pace.
1500m can use 1M strategy
3000m can use 2M strategy
1000mx10 relay can use 4x800m strategy
I wanna do this badly!! haven't done a short distance indoor comp. in a while....I do have to teach a spinning class that night though, let me see if I can get a sub than I'm game!!!!!!!
Scott, Please put me down for the relay? how will it work? it's not 5 consecutive 200's right...we hand the batton after each 200s right? cause either wise i'll die
Rod: you're in. Please RSVP to this event! It's not 5 consecutive 200s -- you do 1 200, hand off, then 4 minutes later the baton comes back to you and you do your next 200, etc.
Jennie -- the meets have been running late this year -- 10 or even later.
Relay team members CONFIRMED (8): Russell, Jim, Annette, Evelyn, Rich, Luke, Rod, Marvin. Additional spots reserved for the following people IF THEY TELL ME THEY'RE DEFINITELY CONFIRMED TO RUN THE RELAY: Mark, Shay. Alternates: Megan, Luciano, Matt.
Sorry, totally forgot I signed up for this. Very out of shape and probably wouldn't represent the team well. Shame because last year was SO much fun!!!
Thanks, Mark. OK, the team is set: Russell, Jim, Annette, Evelyn, Rich, Luke, Rod, Marvin, Shay, Megan. Please arrive by 8:00 to secure your spot and practice handoffs. Alternates -- other teams are usually looking for spare runners. (Note: we will only have one DWRT team, not two.)
Yay.. Go team DWRT! Thanks to everyone who signed up to come cheer too.. We will need all of you for all these laps!!
So sorry everyone I planned on being there tonight but had an accident at work today, good luck to all and have fun, whippet good!
re. 10,000m relay...hard to put into words how painful that was.
