Armory web site has two sets of dates. Megan is correct that one set is the 2010 dates, and the other set I found (Jan 6, 20, 10th, 24th) corresponds to Thursdays in 2011. We should get an official story on NYRR.org when they update their 2011 calendar.
Hi, track runners! I'll be skipping this meet to continue to do base training at East River Park. If you run this meet (and you're doing the Whippets winter track training plan), PLEASE include the 800m as one of your races. Jan 6 is scheduled to be a time trial to assess where we all are, using 800m as the standard. Thanks!
Hi Scott, I was just wondering if you might have some additional info about the Armory races. Are heats divided by age or time? How many heats per race? The avg. time interval btw the different races, if one wanted to do, i.e. 800m and 2 Mile?
Hi, Brandon -- Heats are divided by time. Number of heats varies -- for the men it's 8-10 heats for 800 and Mile, 1-2 heats for the two-mile. For the women it's 1-3 heats. Time interval depends on which heat you run in, it could be as little as 20 minutes or as much as an hour plus. It's definitely fun!
Thanks for all the info, Scott. Very helpful. Though I have to say, I was kind of hoping for a Masters category.
Good luck to all racing! Doing the speed drills in Williamsburg but I will be at the next one to cheer everyone one! Racing reports and pics please...
Rod, Scott and I tried to do our own track workout up there last winter and it was a little challenging since it was so busy.. Try to make the track workout!
Mile, 800, 2 mile...ouch
Results should be posted on nyrr by Monday. Saw some really fast runners. Mile winning time was something like 4:12 eek!
Awesome, Marvin! These races are no joke! Fun to go watch for those not up for racing..
No worries Russell. The pace ranges a lot and there are a bunch of heats based on time. The results should be up on Monday so you can scope out the competition. Besides, track meets are fun...you get to pretend you're in high school again.
Those dates are from 2010.. Should be on Thursdays - "Thursday Night at the Races" :) Dates on the right are correct..
