http://www.getoutside... - If you're like me and oh so tired of running every race in Central Park yet don't want to bothered by seeking an out of town 10K, how about this? Small race cap of 750 so register early if you'd like to do this!
A little about the race:
"The three loop course takes place on a 22 block long footprint, from tip to tip, and is a flat, fast and technical island exploration run. The tree lined streets are beautiful, scenic and tight and the outer loop offers some of the most spectacular views of New York you will have ever seen. Your island exploration run starts with a ferry ride over to Governors Island. There you will be directed to the START. The 10K race starts at 8:30 a.m.: the Kids Scramble 1k and 15-yard dash start at TBD (11:30 a.m.)"
I am registered but not under the team as I didn't see a spot in which to state team name. Sign up at Paragon for $10 off the registration. Otherwise full registration price is $35.
Transportation to and from http://www.getoutside... see info from site below:
"We have hired NY Waterway Ferry service to act as our primary ferry to Governors Island. Each ferry run holds 350 people. We have hired them for 4 runs. That means approximately 1400 people. The race has a 750 person cap so friends and families are welcome for the early morning start."
I just received an e-mail re: updates to this. If you didn't get it let me know and I will forward it to you.
This is going to be a really slow more of a recovery race for me considering I'm not sure of how I'll feel after turning Greta's into a long run by running to the race. Doing this for the experience of running on Gov's Island.

results...Okay, so I did better than I thought I would considering 2.5 hours of sleep and exhaustion from 18 miles (13.1 being the Gallop) the day before. AND it was windy and cold. Haha, enough excuses. I was 160 out of 603 runners. 51:38 for an 8:19 pace.
...3rd in my Female Age group of 37 runners. That said, we should come out in force for the one in June assuming it doesn't conflict w/ any team points race. First place runner paced 6:02 for a 37:24 time and I know the top guys on our team could kill this time especially on such a flat course!
Wow, Patricia, you are fast :D I did much worse than you, but better than my usual which is all that matters right? ;) First time on Governor's Island and have to say I was disappointed by it considering the hype of all my friends but it was still nice to see it for the first time.
By the way, I did not see any Dashing Whippets t-shirts. It would have been nice to spot some, but I guess I'll just have to go to some of the training to meet you all :)
Kei, I was wearing my jersey but under my jacket when not running so that's probably why you didn't see me. It was cold! But yes, please come to the training runs! Gov Isle was okay but next time I will know to wear something much warmer for all the standing around that happened!
Thanks for letting us know about this race, Patricia. I had a great time and the view from the course was definitely worth waking up before the sun to catch the ferry. I will definitely be running it again next year.
i know, patricia, it was so cold! fall is here!
btw, agree with you on faster runners coming out. not only is it probably easier to place, but there are north face prizes!
Great job everyone!!

There's one of me looking down for whatever reason #32. A beautiful setting despite the cold misery. Yeah, look at the competition. We got them beat next June when GOGI does this again!
Whoa. Taking this one extra easy as I just realized that Grete's Gallop (which is team points) is the day before. Oops. Oh well. Play this one by ear and use it as a way to enjoy a nice route.
