Central Park Engineers Gate (map)
This workout will take place DURING the regular Central Park Training Run.
Join us for our first hash run!
What's a hash run? It's a combination training run, mini-adventure and social event that also may involve beer. It works as follows: somebody (Scott) will lay down a trail for a team to follow. The trail will be marked in chalk, so if you're paying attention as you run, you should have no problems following it. But at various points ("checks") the trail will go dead, and you'll have to figure out how to pick it up again. The trail will stay in and around Central Park so that you can't get too lost.
If we have at least 10 RSVPs, I'll split the group into two teams, lay down two trails and give a prize to the team that gets to the end first.
The event will start at 7:15 and we will be done by 8:15-8:30. Total distance: 4-6 miles. If anyone wants to run longer, you can add a Reservoir Loop before the event starts.
To participate, PLEASE RSVP HERE. Then you must be at the Engineer's Gate steps (Fifth Ave. & East 90th) by 7:15 sharp to get your final instructions. Or you can meet Scott at the usual Tuesday meeting spot (Fifth Ave between 86th and 85th) at 7pm.
Disclaimer: I've been on hash runs before but have never organized one, so this may not represent a typical hash run. But let's give it a try.
Important info for participants was emailed to RSVPers and is posted here: http://www.dashingwhippets.org/messages/boards/thread/943...![]()

Thanks Scott. We'll still have our normal training run at seven at the 85th and 5th location even if it does rain (unless there is thunder/lightening). Hope you all would still want to run even if we can't do the hash run (which hopefully we will be able to do, of course).
I can stuff bags in a locker at nysc on 86and lex... Around 6:50
3 out of four teams have finished! We're at Jack Russell at 83rd and 2nd!
Awesome job by the runners on a tougher-than-advertised course. Thanks for the pictures, Rich!
Awesome time. Thanks to Scott and crew for setting up an amazingly fun run that was actually more of a challenge then expected.
Any chance we could get a map/directions for last night's route? I would love to run that again as a training run. So awesome.
Thanks again Scott and Jennie. I agree w/ Mark. Would love to run that again. Mark, you and I could run this together again then go stop for a big bag of ice after for our injured parts!
I'm glad that this is getting such an enthusiastic response. To answer questions from Olivia and others, here's some Q&A...
