Central Park Training Run

Central Park (map)

Selected By: Matthew

For our Tuesday night training runs, we meet at 86th and Fifth Avenue. If you're in need of bag check, you can use NYRR for bag check (closes at 8:00pm) or NYSC (at 86th and Lexington) if you're a member.

We will wait 5 minutes for Whippets before we start our run. Please show up at the starting point to get the full workout details, including distance, pacing groups, expected run time, and where we plan on meeting at the end. You can expect a typical workout to be between 3 and 6 miles. After our run, we will perform stretches at the designated finish area.

When you RSVP, please post your pace time and/or training run distance for the day. You may also use the Talk about this Meetup area to start a discussion.

Important notes: This workout will take place rain or shine. This workout will START in the usual spot (86th & Fifth Ave) but it will END in an unusual spot: East Drive just north of 72nd, next to the Central Park Boat House.

Can't find us? Call Rich at 781 - three six seven - eight two four four. Call Scott at 646 - four nine six - two three one two.

11/16 detailed plan: meet at usual place (86th & Fifth), jog to west side and down to 72nd, back across to east side. Starting next to Boat House, Beginner and Developing runners will do 6-8 repeats of 200m uphill (faster than 10K pace). Intermediate and Marathan runners will do 4-6 repeats of 400m uphill (5K pace). We will FINISH with stretching on East Drive just north of 72nd, next to the Boat House.

Tuesday's workout will be rain or shine -- good practice in case it's rainy on 12/5. Bring your rubbers!

I have no idea what those are. Am I missing out on some awesome runners tool for running in the rain?

Sorry, I was being silly. Old-timers refer to rain gear as "rubbers" because back in the day, rain slickers and boots were made out of rubber. I'll be bringing my plastic/vinyl NYRR poncho.
