Central Park Training Run

Central Park (map)

Selected By: Matthew

For our Tuesday night training runs, we meet at 86th and Fifth Avenue. If you're in need of bag check, you can use NYRR for bag check (closes at 8:00pm) or NYSC (at 86th and Lexington) if you're a member.

We will wait 5 minutes for Whippets before we start our run. Please show up at the starting point to get the full workout details, including distance, pacing groups, expected run time, and where we plan on meeting at the end. You can expect a typical workout to be between 3 and 6 miles. After our run, we will perform stretches at the designated finish area.

Can't find us? Call Scott at 646 - four nine six - two three one two.

When you RSVP, please post your pace time and/or training run distance for the day. You may also use the Talk about this Meetup area to start a discussion.

Note: The November 2 workout has been reclassified to a "normal" workout (instead of a Relay Workout) because of marathon and 10K training activity that conflicts with it.The next relay workout will be on November 30.

Update! November 2 Tuesday training run was originally scheduled to be a Whippets Relay Workout, which turns out to be a bad idea for our fall marathoners. The Meetup event has been reverted to a "normal" workout.

Tuesday Nov 2 workout: for beginner/returning and developing 10k plans, do 5 miles easy, but surge to half marathon speed on uphills. For intermediate 10k and winter marathoners, do 6-12 200m repeats up Cat Hill with 200m jogged recoveries. Form drills to follow.

Excellent job by the team on a tough hill work out. Kudos to the 5-mile group and the 12x200 (or 10x200+1x400) group!

Thanks, Scott! Hard, but good hill workout. 10 repeat 200s + a 400 (instead of 2 more 200s). Good job, everyone...
