For our Tuesday night training runs, we meet at 86th and Fifth Avenue. If you're in need of bag check, you can use NYRR for bag check (closes at 8:00pm) or NYSC (at 86th and Lexington) if you're a member.
We will wait 5 minutes for Whippets before we start our run. We split into groups of similar pace and run loops of the reservoir or of Central Park depending on the desired workout (we now have pace leaders - see the RSVP list to make sure a pacer of your pace is coming). After our run, we will perform stretches at Engineers' Gate (90th St and East Drive).
After we've burned those calories, we usually go out for dinner and drinks, so please join us for that if you can!
I can't make the run, but come by to Trivia afterward. It's nearby, 8:30pm at Swig (1629 2nd Ave, bet E 84th & 85th Sts).
Tonight's hill workout is optional, as always, but it's specifically tailored to NYC Marathoners. From our starting point of 86th & Fifth, we'll do an easy warmup that gets us to the northern part (Central Park drive near 7th Ave & 110th St). We will run together along the East Park Drive, surging on the uphills (not too fast -- half marathon pace) and doing slow jogging on flats and downhills. Hillwork finishes near Tavern on Green, then easy jog back to 90th St.
Anyone up for doing this workout at like 9:30/10 minute pace?
errrrr so where exactly will we meet? 0_o i'm direction challenged...this will take place by the pool area on 110 right?
Hi all, I will be tapering for my marathon next week, so I will pace the 9:30s-10:00 group. Fun sing-along in my group optional! : )
and Patricia, I will be right next to you!!!! where are you guys meeting though for the hill workout, by the pool on 110?
The usual spot at 86th and Fifth Ave. The hill workout consists of running the loop but surging up the hills at a faster pace and jogging down at a slower pace. I will be running the loop easy with my group.
Everyone -- if you can get to the standard starting point (86th&Fifth) by 7:00, that's what you should do. From there we will do our warmup to the starting point of the hill workout. If you can't make it in time, enter Central Park at 7th Ave & 110th St by 7:20 and go along the Park Drive as it passes by the swimming pool. You'll meet us as we're jogging down to the start.
Stuck at work...will probably be a few minutes late. Going to run 2-3 laps around the reservoir if anyone's interested.
Planning a rolling hill workout on 10/19, similar to the final miles of NYC Marathon. Workout = warmup, then do 4 miles starting at top of Central Park, surging (running hard) on the uphills and doing easy jogging on the downhills.
