Central Park Training Run

Central Park (map)

Selected By: Matthew

For our Tuesday night training runs, we meet at 86th and Fifth Avenue. If you're in need of bag check, you can use NYRR for bag check (closes at 8:00pm) or NYSC (at 86th and Lexington) if you're a member.

We will wait 5 minutes for Whippets before we start our run. We split into groups of similar pace and run loops of the reservoir or of Central Park depending on the desired workout (we now have pace leaders - see the RSVP list to make sure a pacer of your pace is coming). After our run, we will perform stretches at Engineers' Gate (90th St and East Drive).

After we've burned those calories, we usually go out for dinner and drinks, so please join us for that if you can!

Hi, Whippets! I'm sorry to report I can't be at tonight's Central Park training run. Have fun! As a reminder -- this Thursday 9/16 at East River Park track will be fun even if you DON'T want to run in the Beer Mile, come out and enjoy it! Also, fyi, next Tuesday (9/21) I'll be leading some brave soles in another hill workout -- this one with longer (but less steep) repeats than normal.

oh yeah, and this is a good map, courtesy of the flyers:

you can see our route from last night as the dotted route that extends upwards from the reservoir bridle path, and also hooks down the east side from the bottom of the reservoir bridle path.

Eight of us ran the bridal path this time for a total of ~6 miles. It was nice to get off the main road and keep it easy on the knees. It's getting dark fast these days!

we got a little lost or . . . maybe the end of the extended bridle path just came too quickly! Good fun, all around.
