For our Tuesday night training runs, we meet at 86th and Fifth Avenue. If you're in need of bag check, you can use NYRR for bag check (closes at 8:00pm) or NYSC (at 86th and Lexington) if you're a member. After our run, we will perform stretches at Engineers' Gate (90th St and East Drive), and then we will grab food and drink.
The first Tuesday of each month will be a relay workout around the Central Park Reservoir.
Join us for a Whippets relay workout! Why? Because relays are a sneaky way to do long speedwork, which develops faster paces and better endurance for races. It's also fun.
How does it work? You will be part of a team. Each of you will run at least two SEPARATE 1.5-mile reservoir loops, handing off the baton so that you'll have at least a ten-minute break between your loops. Total distance, when a warmup is included, will be 4.5-6.5 miles. We will be finished around 8:30.
Make sure you're on time -- meet us at the usual spot on Fifth Ave between 86th and 85th, or be at the Engineer's Gate steps (Fifth Ave. & East 90th) by 7:15 SHARP to be put on a relay team.
Just a heads up, NYRR is closed today so you won't be able to check your bag there. If you want, I can check your bag at NYSC (as long as it can fit) or since we're doing a relay workout, there should be someone always standing around your bag at Engineer's Gate.
Hi, All -- this is a reminder that Tuesday's Central Park training run will have our monthly relay workout for anyone who wants to do it. (You can also do just a regular run.) If you don't know what a relay workout is, read the meetup event details. I'll check in with everyone at 7 -- don't be there any later than 7:15 or you'll miss the start!
