We are going to start doing training runs on the East River and meet at the track in East River Park east of the FDR at East 6th Street. This will give us the flexibility to do speed workouts or distance runs up the East River or over the bridges.
An example of a typical workout would be a one mile warmup, 4-6 mile repeats at the pace determined here: http://www.mcmillanru... with a 3 minute rest, and a one mile cooldown. I will post the workout a few days before each Thursday so everyone can figure out their pace.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
We'll do 5 to 6 x 1000s today at around 5k pace with a lap jog between for recovery.
Hey, sprinters -- just a reminder that we have some challenging and rewarding workouts planned for the upcoming two Thursdays, June 10 & 17, in preparation for our June 22 track meet. Stick with Johnny and me, and you'll be blazing the track in the 400 meters. See you there!
6/10 training plan for sprinters (T minus 2 workouts to 6/22): warmups, handoff drills, then 3 x 300m and 2 x 400m, all at a fast pace. Focus continues on raising lactic threshold, as well as some work on aerobic capacity.
