We are moving the training run up to 6:30 on Tuesdays. This will allow us to use the NYRR for bag check. We will meet on 86th and Fifth Avenue and split into training groups. If you can't make it at 6:30, please use this to find a running partner!
Patrick, Emi, Rich, Mark -- if you're game, I'd like to start doing a little hill work after Tuesday workouts to build strength for the 400m. I won't be running tonight but I might show up and try to convince you to start. Patty -- we didn't miss you at all. Not even a little bit. Well, maybe a little. Yeah, actually, we missed you a lot.
Sounds good, Scott. What's your plan for the hill workout?
Hey Scott, I was wondering the same thing as Patrick. I'll have to see week by week but it's likely that I'll miss some tue runs now that I'm in Tri training mode. Let's discuss more soon!
OK -- the plan on Tuesdays is for runners to do whatever normal workout they want, then rest for at least 5 minutes, then do a few 100m-200m strides on flat ground, then do 2-6 uphill sprints at 8-10sec per sprint. (That's all for the hill workout -- but according to one influential coach, it does wonders for strength/speed, and it's supposedly less injury-prone than speedwork on flat ground.)
Scott - I'm in for the hill workout, but be gentle, it's our first time. As for the regular training run, I'm going to do the 6 mile loop but at a very chill/relaxed pace - 8:20/mm-ish.
oh, would like to try out the hill workout too! ankle started acting up again so will see how I feel.
I'm psyched about hill workouts! For some reason when I read Amy's comment, this song popped into my head: http://www.lala.com/#song/504966147170004642/Iron_Maiden/...![]()

Good job with the short hill workout, Patrick, Emi & Rich! Next week I'll actually be running with you...
Hey Joshua, I think you do need a NYRR membership, but they don't check(?). Some of us use NYSC on 86th and Lex to store stuff. If you're not a member, another Whippet can store it for you. I'll be there around 6:15. If you have a lock, that helps!
