We are going to start doing training runs on the East River and meet at the track in East River Park east of the FDR at East 6th Street. This will give us the flexibility to do speed workouts or distance runs up the East River or over the bridges.
An example of a typical workout would be a one mile warmup, 4-6 mile repeats at the pace determined here: http://www.mcmillanru... with a 3 minute rest, and a one mile cooldown. I will post the workout a few days before each Thursday so everyone can figure out their pace.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Hi all! I just wanted to make sure this is where y'all meet: "the track in East River Park east of the FDR at East 6th Street." Also, what's the most convenient way to get there from the west side? Thanks.
Johnny -- yes, we meet at the small set of bleachers next to the track (E. 6th at FDR Drive). Most convenient way? Hard to say, it's not super-close to any subways. I take the 6 train to Astor Place and jog 10 minutes east on 6th St. You can also take the L to 1st Ave and then get the Lower East Side-bound M14 bus, which runs east on 14th St. and turns south at Ave. A or D -- if you get off at 6th St., you're pretty close. See you there!
Thanks, SB. Very helpful!
I will be jogging over from my office, less than a block from Astor Place. I can store gear if needed.
Sorry I missed it guys! I'm hurting a bit and am putting myself on a little running break again to get my leg in tip-top shape for the craziness that will be May! I'll be back soon!!!
sorry i missed it too! :( got some antibiotics and ill be there all next week! yay! :)
We'll do mile repeats this week. Let's do 3-6 mile repeats at 10k pace with 3 minute rest between each one.
