This race starts at 80th street and Fifth Avenue and runs down to 60th Street. The race is split into heats by gender and age so we can all watch each other run!
This will be my 8th too! One more to go! Also, I'll be attempting a return to the sub-5 club!
Rob, this will be my 8th and Grete's will be my 9th. Good luck with sub-5! I'm going for <5:20.
For this race, details on Whippets meetup/cheering section will be emailed and posted soon. In summary, we're watching the race as a group at around 62nd or 63rd St. and Fifth Ave., on the Central Park side of the street. If you're running, stay on your RIGHT to see us as you pass by with 200m to go, and meet us there before and after your race.
Matthew, I am definitely staying to watch the elite race... I got to meet a lot of them last year (check it out http://www.runnersworld.com/community/persona/index.jsp?U...![]()
) and we still talk on facebook, which is pretty cool. I might meet up with Shannon Rowbury tonight.
Anyway, Blaise and I are doing 20 tomorrow so I'd be lucky if I can go sub7! hehe! Pathetic!!! See you all out there!
there's a bit of a hill but can't remember exactly where, I guess we're clear after 72nd st...!

YOu'll see it coming!
Also, there's mile markers and clocks every quarter miles if you want to do the math to pace yourself.
just looked up the race times. tremendous performance by everyone who participated; wow.
WOW.. nice job team! I'll have to watch the highlights on the NYRR site.
You kids with your sub-5 times.. HOLY COW. I just want to one day run a 4:59.9, so that I can say I was once a member of the SUB-5 CLUB, but that's probably not going to happen. Argh.
Congrats to everyone!
Great job running and cheering everyone! Sorry I missed it (the cheering - NOT the running)!
Everyone did awesome!! Nice job!! :)
I have tons of pictures, but for now... http://www.nyrr.org/resources/photos/2010/mile/event/gall...![]()

part 2 will be ready soon. then I'll upload all the great pics I got of you guys! You did me proud!!!
Just read on runnersworld.com that Bernard Lagat, Leo Manzano (3:50 miler), Alan Webb (3:46 miler), and Nick Willis (an Olympic 1500 silver medalist) will be in the elite men’s field. Also, Shannon Rowbury (1500 bronze medalist in the 2009 World Championships), Sara Hall, and a bunch of other awesome women runners will be in the woman’s field. It’s definitely worth sticking around to watch them run after your heats.
