Just a heads up, if you're planning on picking up your bib the morning of this race, you're going to have to go to NYRR (9 East 89th Street, New York City) between 5:45-6:45am and then head up to the start at 102nd St.
Gary -- I'm thinking of doing 7:30mm too so I can get a feeling of marathon race pace for 18 miles.
Hey Gary, I'm going to do 7:30 for the first five, 7:00 for the next 10, and then try for 6:45-6:50 the last 3 before cooling down for 2 miles after the race to get to 20 miles.
They had pacing groups last year..... hopefully they will this year too! I am aiming for 8:30-8:40's for 20 miles.
I'm still not sure, sounds like fun but I'm tapering for a marathon next wknd so it would only be 12 miles for me. Are these tune-up runs fun? Worth it?
20 miles also around 8:30s, 8:40s pace (hopefully). My marathon (DC) is pretty flat and Central Park is not so if I can hold to around 8:40s to 9:00s I'll be happy.
I also plan to run this more as training but at goal marathon pace - sort of a short practice run.. Let me know if anyone else plans to do around 8:15-8:30.
So Matt, according to your pacing, are you suggesting running the first 5 at about :40 slower than finishing pace?
Hey Patricia, I just wanted to do a progression run of MP plus 40 for five miles, MP plus 10-15 for ten, and MP for the last three since this is my last long run. It's probably wiser to just do MP plus 40 or so for the entire run for most people depending on your health, fitness, and when your marathon is.
Am I the only one who is planning on running this "All Out"? How about one more complete lap after the race to make it a nice and even 4 laps?
I am hoping for 8:30-8:40 for 18 miles. Chicago Marathon in 25 days. Yikes!!
For those of you not carrying your own fluids during the race, it may be important to note that Gatorade is only available in 2 of the 6 fluid stations.
Race Day Carpooling: I will be driving into the city, so if any of you Flushing/Bayside folks want to ride with me, please be by guest. I will be leaving for the race at ~5:30AM on Sunday.
Sad I missed you guys at the start! I showed up around 6:50. Oops. Hope everyone had a fantastic race/training run!! :-) What a great day!

Great job everyone! I took way too many pictures of you guys. But as an amateur photographer not all of them could show how great all you guys looked. So I posted some of them. Hope you guys like. For those who I missed I have a message: Get a jersey! :)
Cool videos Tommy! One of those pics Luciano took made me think that I run with a serious back lean but I looked okay in that video Tommy made (33s into the 2:15~2:16 video). Great job on the race everyone! Matt posted the results here: http://www.dashingwhippets.org/messages/boards/thread/976...![]()

I apologize to those who finished after 2:50, but my arm was getting tired..
Thanks to Tommy and Luciano for all the photos - and even video! This is great, really appreciate all the work you guys put into it... And of course thanks to everyone else out cheering early Sunday morning!
Well, I was already there so shooting some vids and photos was no big deal. Huge thanks to Luciano who came out to cheer us on and take some nice quality pics. Man, I need to figure out a way to hold the flip more steady..
are people running this as a 'normal' training run? -- I was thinking of a 7:30 pace.
