This is the second points race so sign up! To register, go here: http://nyrr.org/races.... We'll meet at baggage at 9:30, do a warmup, and get to corrals before 9:50!
Matt, can I wear a kilt?
i think you should all run with a full on kilt -- none of this sport kilt nonsense [ I'm Scottish, I get to say that ]
You can Benny, but it has to be from the Buchanan clan. That's the official Whippets tartan.
Should all get them then submit to "Show Us Your Clan" http://www.sportkilt.com/resources/35731/Show-Us-Your-Cla...![]()

The course map is here: http://nyrr.org/races/2010/pdf/scotlandrun_map2k10.pdf![]()
. The course starts near West 61st and goes clockwise around the park (down Cat Hill instead of up it!). I really prefer this way around the park since the second half should be mostly downhill.
Thanks for posting the route, Matt. I just noticed-is there no bag check for this race?
I don't see baggage on the map, but the site says there is a baggage facility, so I assume there will be!
great call sylvain! I like it; everybody bring some food that can sit in the baggage checks for a couple hours!
i was stressing about where to seat ~50 whippets for brunch, but sylvain you came up with the best idea! i'll include that in my pre-race details email. hopefully everyone doesn't bring desserts.
Sounds like this could be another cooking competition?!?! ;) haha.
I will bring French picnic goodies like Saucisson, pate, cheese, Baguette, maybe some wine but don't tell the park departments since alcoholic beverages are technically not allowed in the park. I'm counting on "team sake" to deliver. If you are Scottish and bring Haggis from a reputable source I'll try (only by respect) for you.
Sylvain you rock!, great idea and great follow through.
I will be marshaling on the East side around 90th street. Would the cheering section like to set up near me?
I can text with the exact location after I get set up, will be there at 9am.
Johnny, may we have use of your pom-poms? :)
Don't forget to bring blankets, sheets to sit on or pass out depending on your after race condition....Bring alcohol in brown paper bags and opaque plastic cups....it should be fine..cop wise.. been there, done that..:-)
also, everyone don't forget there is a raffle attached to this race so be sure to hand in your stubs (they are built into the bibs).
Saturday will be an excellent day for a picnic. Jessica, I'll make sure to bring you a handful of homemade chopstick pom-poms (I knew there was a reason why I don't throw them out) and give them to you at Thursday's training run. Someone must bring the utensils, cups, plates and napkins, so might as well be moi! Cheers.
I just created a separate event for the picnic. RSVP here: http://www.dashingwhippets.org/calendar/13057318/![]()
I'll send out an email about meeting spots and such soon.

Still can't run. Hopefully start light running this coming week. Hope for good times for everyone running.
PR'd while coming off ten days rest and beating a stress fracture; yeah! 7:30 official
a couple of people asked me about the team after the race. one man commented that our team's camaraderie was awesome and a woman asked me where we got our cookie medals... she had jealousy in her eyes. whippets rock!
I'm considering running this race wearing a kilt. Anyone interested? I found this sport kilt website.
