NYRR is hosting a race to fundraise disaster relief efforts in Haiti.
All entry fees collected by NYRR will go directly to New York City’s Haiti Relief Fund, administered by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, which is directing 100% of donations to reputable organizations providing relief in Haiti. The entry fee is not tax deductible.
Registration is $40 for the race and there's a Virtual Run component to the race as well. For more information:

This is a great reason to run (and to get your 9+1 in). Let's show everyone how charitable runners and Whippets are!
If you haven't registered for this yet, you have until tomorrow night to do so! "Online registration for the Run for Haiti closes at 11:59 p.m. EST on Wednesday, February 17." You can also register in person at number pickup. It appears that there is no cap for this race, since according to @nyrr_daily the race has already hit 6000+ participants!

If you already weren't motivated enough to run this race, NYRR has turned it into a double qualifier.
" Run for Haiti for Double Qualifying Credit!
We think this race is so important that we've taken the unprecedented step of giving double ING New York City Marathon 2011 qualifying credit to any NYRR member who runs the race on Feb. 20. If you are doing the 9+1 this year, this is your chance to get 2 qualifiers in 1 race - and do a great thing for the people of Haiti. It's a win-win!"
