Mike and I will be following the 16 week training program that Benny has graciously shared with us. If you're on the fence about doing a marathon, you should do this one!

Hey guys, I see you've been logging on pretty good mileage lately. I'm not sure if Yasso's plan would be too amateurish for you at this point. I'm following the 18-week plan that's in Advanced Marathoning by Pete Pfitzinger, but that looks a little daunting - day 1 is an 8 mile run at marathon pace. Not sure if I can stick it through, but I will definitely try!

Hey Benny, Your a mind reader. i'm sitting here looking @ Yasso's book. The RW program is basically the "seasoned" plan in the book. The hard-core peaks out @ 60 miles/week in week 13! Would love to compare with your 16wk plan and go somewhere in the middle. Paul we should meet to finalize a training schedule. BTW...I'm meeting Scott for a run in Prospect Park on Sun @ 10am if anyone wants in. Looking to do 12 easy. I need an equalizer for all the food I ate today.

Okay let's finalize a plan next time we meet. It may not be until Jan 5th because I'm packing/moving. If we get on an 18 week program I believe we have to start on Dec 28th. So if Jan 5th is too late to talk about this, let's coordinate through email. And Ben change your Maybe into a Yes!

You're right Paul. 18-week plan will start on 12/28 for 5/2 race day. There is also a 12-week plan in my book that I haven't looked at. I'll scan the plans for you guys and send it to you by email.

And I am about 75/25 for LI/NJ. The only thing swaying me towards LI is the fact that the two of you will be there! I've been reading reviews of the course and the stretch on the Wantagh Parkway does not sound too appealing. Although it sounds so similar to Philly so I think I can do well.

Yeah. Ben the course is not so scenic my buddy ran it last year. The second half is out and back on the Wantaugh Highway but its a good benchmark for NY and Chicago with plenty of time to recover and make corrections to improve. Thanks for the email. Paul we should dialog tomorrow to pick a plan. My schedule is very flexible and we can start on our own. I'll send you email and cell. Catch you guys later.

Firstly, I blush. Secondly, there's half-marathon and 10k options too, all starting together. Think about it, y'all!

So a certain someone who will remain unnamed said that he/she would do the Half only if they gave out a medal... I contacted a friend who did the Half last year and he said he definitely got a medal for finishing the Half.

There are at least 4 Whippets who are seriously considering running the Half... so sign up already!

Also, I just posted a link above for the Half course map.

i think maniac is putting it lightly....but according to that link, i'll be bronze level cause i'm doing 2 marathons in 13 days. I read a couple days ago that Bart Yasso just joined the marathon maniacs. And as any runner know, you gotta do everything Yasso does

the forecast says 87 degrees. I've been reading plenty of articles about running in hot weather and all the scientific studies say marathons should be cancelled when the temperature goes into the 80's. They better have at least two IV's at the ready for me.

It was a hot morning. I ran about 14 miles of the Marathon all by myself. I couldn't see anyone in front or behind me. Small marathons are a different animal than big city marathons. It was great to get to the finish line and then head to Cheesecake Factory and celebrate with everyone. When's the next one?
