I need to make this a bit of a workout, so I may do the 1500, the 800, and the 10,000 relay. Not sure yet though.

For you guys who are on the fence about the relay, there's no need to feel intimidated. It's been pointed out by those that attended the first Armory Meet that the competition is intense, so I can assure you that we're doing the relay as a fun race and there's no expectation for our team to win (though it'd be a nice added bonus ;-)). So I think you guys should all sign up, because it'll be fun cheering on everybody. 10 people, 200mx5 = 10k. Intense fun!

I'm a "maybe" RSVP - but I'm a "yes" if you need a warm body to run.

I am happy to run if I am needed but don't want to take anyone's spot who feels like conquering a fear - it's all in good fun!! Just watch your back is my only advice after running up there once... ;-)

Officially pulling out. I'm getting sick and running in that hot, dry air will be doing me no favors. :(

Patty, Megan, Mark -- not only do we need you, we LIKE you and think you'd be an AWESOME part of our relay. Betsy -- sorry you're not well, get better soon! Ben-- the 8x200m relay was dropped, according to the current NYRR site.

Just a reminder for all of you to bring your jerseys tomorrow. Whippets represent! If we don't have enough people running, some of you Maybes in the stands might have to sub-in.

I'm going to go and cheer the whippets and my Benny boo boo. Definitely not running. I'm not mentally prepared to get my 9:13 booty kicked.

I'm not sure if there is a final 10 yet so if I should plan on running, just let me know before tomorrow morning, please! Certainly happy to do it but need to pack up some inside running stuff... And thanks for the warm fuzzies, Scott ;-)

Is Armory track 200m or 400m? Is the track on East River 400m?

Megan -- please shoot me your USPS mailing address so I can Fedex you an engraved invitation. GIRL, we so want you on the team, what are you waiting for? Be like Mark and Patty -- DO IT. PS, I'm not in charge and it's not my decision, I'm just a pretend dictator.

RICH/MATT -- I have to arrive late to the track meet due to personal thing I gotta take care of after work. I promise to be there. Can you cover my entry fee if necessary? Also, I'll be bringing a lock from home -- there are lockers on the track level in the back area (in the corner near the shot put area), so I can store anyone's stuff.

What is our final number? if we have more than 10 people for the relay, I'll sit it out. There is a meeting about Ragner at the same time that I'd like to check out.

    Megan - Run!
Masako - The Armory track is 200m. East River track is 400m.
Joanna - How you make me smile. :-)

Am I counted as part of the 10? I can never catch a break. If you need me I'll do it but I'm wearing lip gloss and I better not hear anything about it. Scott, Can we go early to do a warm up run?

Just wanted to make sure, people interested in the relay are Rich, Megan, Alejandra, Scott, Mark, Ben, Patty, Patrick, Brendan, Alex, Josh, and me. Josh mentioned that he wouldn't mind not doing it and I could just do the 1500 and the 800. Should we just say the first ten people listed above will be on the relay and I'll be an alternate if someone doesn't show up?

Oh, forgot to count Joanna - Benny and I can both be alternates and plan on running the 1500 and 800 instead.

Ok so I just saw jess and she told me the relay is 200m 5x. Noone told me it was that much. I hurt myself on Sat and I really am not prepared to do speedwork. I can go to the ragner relay meeting instead since I work around there. But I honestly wanted to go for an easy run in the beginning of the track thing and cheer bennigans and the whippets.

Tonight's relay will involve 49 baton hand-offs! Please review this video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=16079992976167612... Whoever drops has to buy drinks at the bar. ;-)

nice video! what are rules for 10000m relay? running lanes? relay zone? are runners assigned lanes based on the position of the team's previous runner when he/she is halfway around the track?

FYI--We closed early and it took me a REALLY long time to get home on the 1. The 1 and A/C is being extra finicky in uptown Manhattan. Be prepared and maybe cushion in some extra time to get up there. (also, that mean's i'm not coming to cheer. still way sick and don't want to do that trip again. good luck and have fun!!!)

It was a lot of fun doing the track races. Patrick, Benny and I did the 800m and I think I finished in 2:37. Then we rocked the 10x5x200m relay in 28:48 (4:38mm pace!). Really proud of our team of Scott, Alex, Mark, Patty, me, Benny, Johnny, Masako (!), Levett and Patrick. You guys all rock!

Amazing Meetup. So proud of the team for competing and giving our all. It's all I've been thinking about all day. Just so intense and awesome. Oh, and reminding Patrick all day that I was faster then him has been fun too ;) Big thanks to Johnny for bringing snacks/drinks and to Pamela and Joanna for cheering us on. Masako stepping up was epic. Felt like I was going to die, but really can't wait to do it again. Great experience.

MAJOR PROPS to Masako for stepping in at the last minute, and to everyone else who committed to the relay and then actually did it. It was a blast and I'd love to do it again. Thanks also to Pam and Joanna for being such awesome supporters.
