Since we now don't have to get into corrals until 7:15, let's meet at 6:55-7:00 instead at 100th and 5th near the UPS trucks.
I would like to break 1:30 again. I've only competed in one other half marathon and that was ING Hartford in 2008. I hope I'm in as good of shape as I was back then!
Hey Greg, maybe we can pace together. I'm planning on running the first 6 miles at 6:45 to 6:50 pace and then picking it up once we finish the first whole lap around the park and start going downhill. Will you be there early at baggage? Also, Pam, Mike, and Megan, I think you all will be at around the same pace as well.
Cool, I will look for you guys before the start. I plan to pace the same way Matt describes - but a little slower ;-)
Yeah, I can meet you at baggage. Any particular time and exact location?
Everyone, just a note: you're supposed to be corralled a half hour before start time for this one. Which means be in your corral no later than 7am. [Which means, Matt, change the info at the top of the page about meeting at baggage at 7am because that's not going to work. And also change the start time from 8am to 7:30am as well.]
don't forget number pickup for this one is at 19th Street bet. 6th & 7th Avenue. Also...unlike other races, there is no centralized bag check. There are going to be a line of UPS trucks on 5th ave. Each truck corresponds to your specific bib number. Finally, if your bib is under 7000 you enter the park at 97th street and if it's over 7000 you enter the park at 102nd street. And if it's exactly 7000, you win a cupcake
UPS trucks and special park entrances, NYRR really wants me to be wake for this race. :)
Started a message board thread. Masako, in response to your question: http://www.dashingwhippets.org/messages/boards/thread/876...![]()

Just changed it. I had posted this before NYRR had any information up and didn't update it. I'm getting there at 6:30 and will wait near baggage at 100th and 5th until 6:40 or so.
Sounds good! Benny is going to start out with us too, right Benny?!
No, Matt.
Since it's now 7:15 to get to corrals, I'm giving myself extra sleep and planning on getting to baggage at 6:55 or so instead.
Got my number! 14590. We are getting a nice technical tee and lunch bag.
SOME DETAILS ON THE WHIPPETS CHEERING SECTION -- We'll be at around 22nd and West Side Highway, just past the Team in Training Cheers. Look for us, Whippets. Non-running Whippets, please come out and support! Details are in this discussion thread (and are subject to change after Rich and I talk)...

I picked up a medium t-shirt today at number pickup and it's too small for me. If anyone wants a medium, can you pick up a large and we can do a change.
Same thing almost happened to me Josh. Figured they were going more unisex with sizing and held it up - it'd probably fit my 16-year old brother so I exchanged it for a Large. I'm sure if you went back to the Expo tomorrow or Saturday they wouldn't mind an exchange.
Josh, hey, I can use the medium. If you still need, I can run by and get the Large, and we can do a swap later.
jason - thanks, but I'm going to head to the expo during lunch today to do the exchange.
Are we going to do Brunchers together after? Maybe we can do Dim Sum? But would be up for whateves.
Matt made reservations for Southwest NY at 11am for brunch after the Half. Stay tuned for an e-mail with more details about meeting and cheering spots: http://www.yelp.com/biz/southwestny-new-york![]()
I'll see you guys Sunday morning and I'll most likely be shouting at you and taking lots of pictures!
Bag check closes promptly at 7am! Plan accordingly. Have a great race everyone!
Thank you guys so much for cheering, it really helped during the last few miles!!
My time wasn't posted under "DWRT" for some reason - I got 1:32:47 which is a 7:05 split. I didn't hit my goals of <1:30:00 or <7:00/mile but I really enjoyed being out there.
A big thank you to everyone who came out to show their support! You guys are awesome! I barely broke 1:30 and it was all thanks to you that I did!
Many Thanks to the cheering section. It really helped the push to the finish. You guys were great. Nice job to all who ran!
Thanks to all the Cheerleaders!
Anyone leave a 5th Ave Mile canteen at brunch? E-mail me if it's yours.
Thank you guys for cheering and help us through the hardest part of the race.
Pictures are awesome my mom will love this....
I will have to second everyone below on thanking the Whippets Cheering Team. The sign was awesome. I was definitely counting down the blocks to see you guys.
I was counting down the blocks to see the Whippet cheerleaders too! Although none of you noticed me! haha! it was nice to see everyone! :)
I'm so sorry we missed you, Patty! We were looking for you, had you on our list expecting you between Masako and Mike, but you were obviously moving so fast that it was all a blur...
What's everyone's goal for this race? Post it in the RSVP section and maybe we can find running partners. It could help in a long race like this.
