Whippet of the Week: Meghan Prin

Our first Whippet of the Week is Meghan Prin. She’s a doctor, in her 5th (and hopefully final) year of sub specialty training (Critical Care Medicine). She work in ICUs, primarily for patients who have recently had surgery. She joined the Whippets in the Spring of 2013 and lives on the Upper West Side. She tries to attend either the Tuesday night or Saturday morning Central Park runs.

Here’s her story:

Between mustachioed balloons and an annual Beer Mile, I knew that this was the team for me. Jonathan Kline was one of the first Whippets I ever met, and after doing a long run with him one Saturday I realized that the Whippets were not only fun, but fast!

My favorite distances to race are the 10K to the half marathon, and one of my running goals is to Boston Qualify some day. I really like traveling for races, and last January went to Hawaii for the first time to run the Maui Half. It was incredible, and would be a great full marathon as well: all flat along the coast with whales breaching off the beach!

Here in NYC, my favorite run is the annual LGBT Pride Run because they always design a rad shirt and give out delicious rainbow popsicles at the end. Right now I’m training for the NYC Half, my second favorite race, and hopefully a 2016 PR.

For cross training I like doing all sorts of things from Yoga to biking to bootcamps. The annual NYC Century Ride is an annual tradition—it’s my favorite way to see the city.

We are debuting a new category: “Whippet of the Week” where we’ll introduce some of our running teammates. There are hundreds of Dashing Whippets and we thought that it would be great to share their running goals and what they do when they aren’t running. If you’d like to submit, please email . Follow the instagram @dashingwhippets for #WhippetsWednesday where these runners will be highlighted.
